Answer: At this season of the year keep a close watch on loses for the slug which causes leaves to bleach and die the leaf roll er which bores into the blossom buds and ties the leaves the rose mildew which appears as a powder and in jures foliage and blossoms and red spiders which injure the leaves in dry seasons Either or all of these pests can be controlled quite well by begin ning when buds first open and dust iug lightly at frequent intervals or following1 each rain with a mixture consisting of 1 part arsenate of lead and 5 parts ordinary sulphur It will 1 help however to go over the bushes frequently and crush the leaf rollers I Ruth Elliott Kendall daughter of John and Maria Parks Elliott was born March 10 1882 near Novelty Mo and departed this life at her home June 7 She was married to Amos Lee Ken dall of Plevna eb 2 1899 There they lived on a farm until October 1935 when they moved to Shelbina where she has continued to make her home since the death of her husband March has been honored by selection both as queen of Carth age College and the Carthage home coming celebration The bridegroom is also a graduate of Carthage College He was grad uated from the Metropolis Madison Mo riday Mrs Edgar Powell and son Elmer and Mr and Mrs A Hudson call ed Sunday evening on Rice who has been ill for several days at his hom*o Mr and Mrs Roberts and Mrs Roberts two sisters and 9 6 Score In a hard fought battle for Nenw i League honors Sunday the Edma Aces smacked the Hannibal Boosters out of first place and set up as league leaders by a half game I margin The Boosters took the lit tlel end of a 9 6 score for their fust defeat of the season I The Aces went into the eighth in ning trailing 5 to 2 but in this frame Edina bunched 5 of their 11 hits ami with three walks and
