Paper Airplane Folding Tips:
Try to make your folds as smooth and crisp as possible. We found that running a ruler over the folds really helped to make the planes fly straighter and faster.
Don’t worry if some of your folds are a little “off” from what’s shown on the templates. Depending on the thickness of your paper and how many folds you’ve made, it might “shift” the fold lines slightly. Just make your folds as close to the lines as you reasonably can, and make sure they’re the same (symmetrical) on both sides of the plane.
We like to use a glue stick, double sided tape, or glue tape inside the body of the plane (on either side of the center fold) to keep it together. This is an optional step, but it helps the plane keep its shape, which in turn helps it fly better. You can also use a paper clip to keep the paper airplane together.
How to use these paper airplane templates:
- Click on the pictures or links below. A PDF file will open in a new tab or window.
- Print the paper airplane double sided on regular 8.5 x 11 (letter size) printer paper. Read each plane’s specific printing instructions below.
- Follow the numbered instructions and arrows to fold your paper airplane.
- Send your paper airplane flying! Watch as it soars across the room.
